Name Hov'qIj Lon'HocH'tul

Position First Officer

Second Position Chief Tactical Officer

Rank Captain

Character Information

Gender Male
Species Klingon
Age 40

Physical Appearance

Height 6'3"
Weight 275
Hair Color White
Eye Color Grey
Physical Description Large built with very smooth ridges. White hair in a top knot. His eyes to a Terran might resemble that of a blind or dead man because of how light grey they are. Pale for the average Klingon. He wears fingered gloves because they keep him apart from people and as a protection against people who can use touch ESP. His honor sash was given to him by his commanding officer VaQ'Taj. It is made of scale-mail much like Warf. It bears the symbol of his house the empire and the Dark Star. Although not in that order. Although he has a d'k tahg it is kept in his quarters and only brought out for ceremonial purposes or when he need to wear a dress uniform. He normally wears a blade given to him by his father. It has a Nazi Cross at the base of the ivory handle. Its handle also has an early earth electroplated gold dating it back to the second world war. If asked about it his story varies a bit depending on his trust level with the individual asking. Truthfully he is not certain but believes it is from the house his father mingled with and was taken from a soldier and handed down then given as a gift. It is but another example of his love of eclectic symbolism of war.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Hov qIj tends to look at the world through rose colored mirror shades. At the same time looking for the assassin's blade from round the corner, he is an idealist, looking for the next opportunity and chance to change the stars. For himself, his ship, his house, and the empire.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strong of mind and body. Having grown up in deep space has made him have far different ethics than the norm for his race and somethings in his history can bring him into conflicts with others of his race,
Ambitions To make enough money to retire and travel. To Captain his own ship although like William Riker he wants to wait for the ship he is on.
Hobbies & Interests Economics, Science, Martial Arts, Cuisine, Alien Women, Earth History, Gaming, and Engineering to name a few.

Personal History Hov Qij was the son that didn’t leave his father’s side until he was indoctrinated into the navy. Rumors had always abounded about his family's checkered past. For many years they were just that. His father had lost his commission early on and was given an Ambassadorial role that kept him far from Kronos and far from his other son Jo Qij. This meant that much of the young Klingon’s life was spent in alien space. Much of that was in federation space. As his father for quite some time was nothing more than a messenger or go between there where large amounts of time for them to do other things. Touring the star bases and museums always sparked the imagination of the youngster. Dreaming of how he would design a ship if given the chance.

As such he has some personal artifact from federation space. Each holding some memory for him of a good time with his father or friends. To this day Hov Qij felt that perhaps his fathers death paid for his honor and not his own dishonor.
Service Record When Hov Qij came of an age that if he didn’t join the military they might not expect him later he chose a tactical role. Anything else would have been seen as a weakness inherent in his family. His brother back on Kronos had already been in the Military for years at this point. That was not to say that the young man was untrained. He had been taught the fighting arts and had been tutored in the skills he needed to learn just as if he went to the academy.

He was teased mercilessly by his peers and the only thought in his mind for a long time was to serve his tour of duty then maybe transfer out or even opt for one of the cultural exchange programs the Federation had made popular and well then at some point ask for asylum.

It was a great day when his brother came to him and told him that he was married. That he and his mate had gained commission of a great star ship. His brothers enthusiasm could not be hidden and he boasted that it was the most advanced ship in the fleet. Once more it was still testing out new things all the time to have added to the ships systems.

It was in that way that Hov Qij had become the ship tactical officer. Shortly after being on the ship his brother offered him the duty of being the ships treasurer. Knowing he might be the one person that could be trusted with the job and would have no care for the dishonor of the position. To this day the white haired Klingon has many a logbook written in hand for each year served aboard the “Dark Star”.

Hov Qij thinking of himself as a jack of all trades prides himself on visiting the various departments on board the ship and discussing the goings on with the people in those stations. As such when the time came for his brother to leave the ship to keep watch over the house of his mate. Hov Qij became the most likely candidate for First Officer. Already having a great working knowledge of the inner workings of the ship and truly enjoying paperwork made the job seem like just an extension of what he was already doing in his spare time.

The ship being short handed for now means that he is still often seen sitting in his old Tac chair much like Spock at his science console.
