Mission:
Heroes of the Hov'hurgh
Location: Holosuite One, USS Infinite Diversity
Timeline: 2409
After updating some of the main characters in his main holo program. Such as adding T’Vyn’s likeness as the white queen and switching his old captain from the mad-hatter to the queen of hearts. Setting in himself as the mad-hatter tour guide of sorts for that area. Then making sure the pathways from wonderland allowed ways back to the castle in Disney and back to the other fantasy realms.
The white haired mousy set up a large gymnasium to test some of his new found abilities with and hone them further if possible. A large olympic track encircled various equipment and a large octagon arena to spar in. Along the path of the track sat padded targets on both the left and right side like out of an old favorite boxing movie of his. Various pennants, of the martial arts of his day hung over the bleacher styled seating areas. Some of the symbols ranged from the WWE logo to the karate fist. In all there were twelve of them.
The earth-man had decided to don his favorite exercise outfit, His Ninja Gi designed to look like a cross between one that Sho Kazuki wore and the one from Kung Fu with the hand on the back. He had made sure over time it was both functional and designed for a wide range of movement so much that it almost made him feel naked. He noted how much less at ease he was in it now, but unsure if it was due to his changes or just because no one was in the room.
After stretching a bit he began running the track faster and faster just to see how fast his new legs could carry him. Figuring it just would not do in a pinch to not have any idea how quickly he could get from point A to point B.
After two times around the track Fred still felt pretty good and decided to test his running punch. As he passed the first target he punched it. The amount of force, in pounds per square inch, displayed on four scoreboards over the gym in glowing red numbers. The standard soft female computerized voice announced the amount as well. Giving him the feeling of being in a competition.
The “large” scientist loved competition even with himself. Of course these statistics where just that date and no real test of either his fighting skills or how he might handle them in combat. and this spawned a somewhat tantalizing idea in his mind.
Carlow decided to set up T’Vyn as a martial arts opponent in the ring. After all he knew she would make a great martial arts instructor given the chance. Simply giving the computer instruction to allow the hologram to fight as well as his Captain could. It felt less like prying anyway.
As she appeared in his fantasy arena it dawned on him that he might not attack her under almost any circumstances. So he tried to think of one that he might do just that. “Well maybe if she was taken over by an alien intelligence or something.
So he fed in the adjusted parameters to the computer. The white haired man from elsewhere smiled as the “New” T’Vyn’s eyes turned white and she took on a much more menacing demeanor. He also secretly patted himself on that back that he had remembered to keep the program paused while he made the changes or he might have already been on the floor.
That said he also did not turn off the safeties settings. Deciding in real combat she could break his bones into powder and given he was still untested and unfamiliar with his own form it would be more likely than not.
“Computer activate combat simulation.” Frederick commanded.
In a flash the blue clad fury raced at him. Closing the ten foot distance between them as fast as a punch. Frederick leaped out of the way as best he could but the Vulcan woman had swung around and caught the back of his foot making him spin in the air like a helicopter. Once down she came at him with kite like kicks trying to drive her hell home to various vital spots on his body. Nothing was meant to wound or incapacitate like the real T’Vyn. Instead the amount of force was ramped up to extreme levels so that one hit would likely break that part of the body.
Just able, for quite a while, to roll around on the ground like a sausage dropped on the floor was in no way going to win him the fight or even allow him to properly defend himself. Of course getting up meant having to get past her speed and agility. The only out that came to mind was grabbing her leg and trying to hurl her off him.
The grabbing went fine. The hurling seemed flawless. The end result was far from expected for the white mousie. The formerly honey eyed Vulcan woman simply turned mid air so her feet used the cage like a trampoline and launched herself back at Fred like an arrow.
Fred ducked under her trying to punch her in the abdomen to simply have her turn like a corkscrew off his hand dissipating any of the raw kinetic energy from the blow. Landing as her feet slid back almost to the opposite side of the cage and a grin fell across her face. Almost like ice skating backwards with just as much grace and dexterity as though it had been a preplanned maneuver.
Not all of her weapons where physical or even psionic. Some, like mental intimidation techniques, had come from her research. “Come on Mr. Carlow don't you want me to defeat you?” She said as she took a defensive stance.
Seeing this gave the white haired man only slight pause. More concerned that the computer had chosen her best offence by taking that stance. He circled, keeping a distance from her. Bruce Lee had been noted for this technique and it was taught in many schools although rarely employed in an arena. He also took the opportunity to bring his center of gravity lower to more match hers.
The computer T’Vyn did know of the tactic the man was taking, being much like a fighter craft trying to move perpendicular to a larger vessel to out maneuver its guns. She chuckled just before letting Fred get behind her and kick out at his side in a spin kick. Fred caught her leg and as her other leg came down over head in a blur he pushed her away from him. This time she did not go quite as far and let loose several blows each meant for a different area. One meant for his neck landed and a light illuminated the area and stopped the match.
The voice overhead described the hit and what it could have done.
Again he restarted the match and this time he was more ready. Problem being was the computer knew that and again took on T’Vyns fortress like stance waiting for Fred to become open. Also this time she was in a blue and white costume from one of his comic books. That worked in forcing him to try and keep his mind on the task at hand instead of letting his mind wander.
Circling in, Carlow only waited until he was in range of her and began trying to attack her with his own multi-attack style. For each attack she gave a counter and another attack. Their hands became a blur as each one tried to hit the other in some vital area meant to bring down the other combatant. As one hold was placed an exit move followed. Flipping over the focal point of a hold to reverse its leverage.
Finally T’Vyn’s computer doppelganger fingers reached a spot on his chest and the red light illuminated a wide area around the spot she had touched. The voice over the intercom let him know it was a fatal blow. This was far outside the bag of tricks he would have expected from her. Fred decided to ask her about that later.
Again he had the computer reset the match but this time he decided to enhance the program. The scientist gave his opponent a lirpa. One of the traditional weapons of her people. He decided on a naginata. The large pole arm felt light in his hands. He twirled it around a bit before restarting the program. “Ya know how I always said I wouldn't attack you with a ten foot pole? Well today I guess I am gonna try.”
The possessed version of his friend smiled with a grin that he had never seen on her face. Darting at him with her lirpa with the heavy end blurring at his skull. Fred parried the blow but not without incident as the raw force of it sent him back a bit. Of course this also had a benefit the naginata strength was in distance. He struck out at her. Trying for a disarming strike. Which could lop her fingers off if it connected. She easily deflected the first blow but being so light Carlow used the pole arm like a Kung Fu spear and let loose a flurry of blows striking at several vital areas. She deflected them all but this time it did not appear to him that it was as simple.
After that she lept into the air doing a forward flip at him. Her lirpa edge came at him like a guillotine blade. Carlow blocked that using the massive force and weight of her blow to help him spin around towards where she was landing behind him. Again she brought the Vulcan weapon at him trying to hit him with its pole.
Although he was doing better in this fight one thing crossed his mind. Odds seemed to be heavily in her favor. Her body was not new to her. Also with the mind of a computer every move and counter move for her came as needed. He had always been more into feeling things as they came. Riding the tide so to speak. That at least meant that he might be harder to judge, but at some point, he rationalized, she was going to hit him.
Just before the fan blade like movements came to an inevitable conclusion of one kind or another, the on board communicator alarm broke through and the program paused. Frederick had set the program that way in case he had to race out.
“Yes Admiral?” Feeling a bit like a kid caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar.
“Mister Carlow you are needed on the bridge.” Came the steady, unreadable neutral tone that Admiral T’Vyn had cultivated over a good many decades in service to the Federation.
Frederick had no way of knowing just from the tone of her voice, but he still wondered if she knew what he had been up to.
“On my way Ma’am.” he answered quickly and shut down the program, the familiar Tron like grid replacing the scene from before. “Computer save program and transfer changes to my files.”
